Bowie continues to suffer from a traumatic brain injury. He has apraxia in his mouth and is unable to speak, eat and drink well. Also, his left arm has dystonia and he is currently unable to use it. After Bowie’s discharge from Scottish Rite on July 20, 2016, Bowie’s progress regressed and had to be readmitted on August 6, – August 16, 2016.

Bowie Dupree of Acworth Georgia is 13 years of age, an honor student at Durham Middle School.  Interests include fishing, cycling, kayaking, hiking and swimming.  Bowie is described as a a kind and cheerful young man with a strong faith.  On Memorial Day, May 31, 2016 while on a family bicycle ride, Bowie wrecked coming down Brookstone drive.  He had multiple skull fractures, a broken nose, crushed bones behind his right ear, and suffered a traumatic brain injury.  He was in intensive care at Egleston where he was placed in a medically induced coma and received a Decompressive Craniectomy.  He was then transferred to Scottish Rite where he stayed in-patient rehab for 6 weeks.  Bowie continues to suffer from a traumatic brain injury.  He has apraxia in his mouth and is unable to speak, eat and drink well.  Also, his left arm has dystonia and he is currently unable to use it.  After Bowie’s discharge from Scottish Rite on July 20, 2016, Bowie’s progress regressed and had to be readmitted on August 6, – August 16, 2016.

Bowie’s parents Danny and Anya are self employed in real estate.  Both were unable to work this summer as caring for Bowie and his two younger siblings became a full time job.  Bowie continues to require daily therapy above and beyond what insurance would cover.  The Duprees are very grateful for the support they have received in their community.
