Bob Kelly

Robert Emmett “Bob” Kelly devoted his life to serving others through faith, compassion, and generosity. As the founder of Helping One Guy, Bob created a ministry that has provided encouragement, financial assistance, and hope to men and their families facing life’s most difficult challenges. His servant’s heart, unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, and commitment to helping others left an enduring impact on countless lives throughout the community.

Born on October 2, 1944, Bob was raised in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he developed the strong work ethic and genuine love for people that would define his life. He began his career in sales before discovering his passion in the food and beverage industry, owning and operating several neighborhood restaurants and pubs. More than businesses, these became welcoming places where friendships were formed and everyone was treated like family. Bob never met a stranger, and his kindness, humor, and generosity made him a beloved figure wherever he went.

Faith & Family

Faith was the foundation of Bob’s life. His relationship with Jesus Christ shaped every decision he made and inspired the compassion he extended to everyone he encountered. He believed deeply in God’s grace and found purpose in encouraging those facing hardship, always willing to pray, listen, or simply be present when someone needed support.

Bob was a devoted husband to Jane Kelly, a loving father to Tracey (Jon) Russell, Scott (Courtney) Kelly, and Timothy (Beth) Kelly, and a proud grandfather to Sloan Burt, Keegan Burt, Kade Kelly, Rennen Kelly, and Harper Grace Kelly. He treasured every moment with his family and considered them his greatest earthly blessing.

Founding Helping One Guy

In August 2012, Bob founded Helping One Guy with a simple but powerful mission: to walk alongside men experiencing life’s greatest trials. What began as one man’s desire to help another quickly grew into a ministry dedicated to providing financial assistance, encouragement, prayer, and practical support for individuals and families in need.

Under Bob’s leadership, Helping One Guy became known for its compassionate approach and unwavering commitment to ensuring that no man had to face hardship alone. His vision continues today through the volunteers, donors, board members, and supporters who carry forward the ministry he loved so deeply.

Community & Leadership

Bob’s influence extended far beyond Helping One Guy. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he coached young athletes from Little League through the collegiate level, using sports to teach integrity, perseverance, teamwork, and character. Atlanta Braves fans fondly remember him as “Brother Francis,” the energetic mascot who brought joy and laughter to games throughout the 1980s.

Whether mentoring someone in need, sharing a meal with friends, supporting local families, or encouraging others through faith, Bob lived each day with humility, purpose, and an open heart. His ability to make every person feel valued was one of his greatest gifts.

A Lasting Legacy

Bob Kelly’s legacy lives on through the family he cherished, the ministry he founded, and the countless lives he touched through Helping One Guy. His example of servant leadership, generosity, and unwavering faith continues to inspire others to care for those facing difficult circumstances.

Through every event, every family served, and every life encouraged, Helping One Guy proudly continues Bob’s mission of helping one guy at a time.
