The Story
Bob Kelly
Bob Kelly’s life was defined by faith, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to serving others. As the founder of Helping One Guy, Bob dedicated himself to supporting men and their families during life’s most difficult seasons, creating a ministry built on compassion, encouragement, and hope.
Born on October 2, 1944, Bob was raised in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he developed the strong work ethic, infectious personality, and genuine love for people that would define his life. After beginning his career in sales, he found his calling in the food and beverage industry, owning and operating several neighborhood restaurants and pubs that became gathering places where everyone was welcomed like family. Bob never met a stranger, and his warmth, humor, and servant’s heart left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
Faith & Family
Above all else, Bob loved the Lord. His faith in Jesus Christ guided every aspect of his life and inspired his desire to help others. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Jane, a loving father to Tracey, Scott, and Timothy, and a proud grandfather to Sloan, Keegan, Kade, Rennen, and Harper Grace. His family was the center of his life, and his greatest joy came from serving both them and his community with humility and love.
The Legacy of Helping One Guy
In August 2012, Bob founded Helping One Guy with a simple but powerful mission: to walk alongside men facing life’s greatest challenges. Through financial assistance, encouragement, prayer, and genuine friendship, the ministry has helped countless individuals and families find hope during difficult times. Bob believed that showing up for someone in need could change a life, and that belief became the foundation of Helping One Guy.
His legacy continues through the ministry he created and the volunteers, supporters, and community members who carry his vision forward by helping one guy at a time.
Community Impact
Bob’s influence extended far beyond Helping One Guy. He was a lifelong sports enthusiast, youth coach, mentor, and familiar face throughout the Atlanta community. Many Braves fans remember him as “Brother Francis,” the energetic mascot who entertained fans throughout the 1980s. Whether coaching young athletes, encouraging friends, or praying with someone in need, Bob lived each day with purpose, kindness, and generosity.
